Wildlands Charter School
Fall Creek, WI
DeVetter Design Group worked with the Wildlands Charter School in Fall Creek, Wisconsin to develop a new school facility at the Beaver Creek Reserve that will reinforce its integrated and self-directed learning curriculum developed by its teachers.
The school is designed around four grade groupings that are open to a central commons area that encourages cross-grade-level interaction. The central commons area is designed to serve as a student meeting and presentation space. Each of the grade groupings will share an integrated applied lab with another. The entire school is an open plan with movable furniture to create individual learning areas. These areas will transform as the curriculum requires.
The school curriculum is focused on scientific research and project-based learning. Each of the grade groupings and the applied labs are open to exterior classrooms and research areas. This openness expands educational space and creates an environment that will encourage collaborative and integrated work.
